On matchday 38 of the 2020-2021 Serie A TIM season, Milan win 2-0 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.
A minute’s silence was observed before kick-off in memory of the victims of the tragic incident of the Stresa-Mottarone cable car that occurred this morning.
It was a tense game from the very beginning due to the points at stake. Saelemaekers tried to break the ice after 4 minutes with a finish that went over. Then it was a battle all over the pitch but there were only a few chances at both ends. The deadlock was broken in the 43rd minute with a penalty scored by Kessie which had been earned by Hernandez. Milan led 1-0 at the break.
In the second half the Nerazzurri kept looking for an equalizer. Zapata almost tied in the 57th minute, as he was set up by Malinovskyi, but his angled drive skimmed the post. Then Malinovskyi had a chance on 66 but his left-foot finish was straight at the goalkeeper. Milan got dangerous in the 68th minute with Leao who skipped past Gollini with a chip shot but was blocked by the post. Muriel’s great shot on 72 went inches wide. In the final minutes, Milan were awarded another penalty (Gosens handball), which was converted by Kessie for the 0-2 final scoreline.
