On matchday 23 of the 2020-2021 Serie A TIM season at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, Atalanta beat Napoli 4-2 and raise up to 43 points.
There weren’t any big chances in the first half, with both defences prevailing over the attacks. The Nerazzurri had penalty appeals on 17 after a collision between Mario Rui and Pessina inside the box, who was about to kick. Di Bello didn’t award the penalty. Gollini finger-tipped Osimhen’s header over on 35, then Pessina set up Zapata who didn’t manage to find the back of the net from inside the box.
The second half was far more thrilling. Zapata broke the deadlock on 52 with a header from Muriel’s cross. Then Politano floated a pass over for Zielinski who curled in to make it all square. It was all over again for the Nerazzurri. Pessina saw his left-foot effort deflected, then Gosens made it 2-1 after Muriel spread it to the right for Zapata, who rolled it across for the German wing-back to restore the Nerazzurri lead. Then Muriel literally came up with an amazing play on 71 to make it 3-1. An unfortunate deflection from Gosens on Politano’s cross got Napoli back into the game. Finally, Romero with a header from Muriel’s corner sealed the 4-2 win.
