Cristian Romero made his debut for the Argentina national team in the qualifying match for the World Cup Qatar 2022, in which Argentina drew 1-1 against Chile in Santiago del Estero.

The Nerazzurri defender was named in the starting line-up by coach Scaloni and played the full 90 minutes. On the contrary, José Luis Palomino did not play. This is also his first call-up to the national team.
