On matchday 5 of the 2020-2021 Serie A TIM Sampdoria win 3-1 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.

The first chance of the game comes off Gomez on 7: Papu’s finish goes inches wide. Sampdoria take the lead on 13 when Quagliarella fired into the roof of the net. Iličić saw his shot charged down by Audero, but visitors threatened to double their lead on 34 with a Tonelli angled drive which went inches wide. A Mojica handball on 45 gave a penalty to Sampdoria (after a VAR review), but Sportiello parried Quagliarella penalty, keeping the scoreline on 0-1 at the break.

The second goal came on 59 when Jankto floated a ball over the top for Thorsby’s diving header. The Nerazzurri tried to come back through Gosens and Pašalić and Zapata pulled one back on 80 by scoring a penalty, which was awarded after a VAR review for a foul on the Colombian made by Keita. Gasperini’s team tried to win until the end, but Jankto went on the counter and scored in stoppages to end the match.
