On the 2020-2021 Serie A TIM matchday 13 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo Atalanta win over Roma, who were beaten 4-1 thanks to a comeback performed in the second half.
Atalanta wore a special kit for the Christmas Match. It was an uphill battle from the start as Roma took the lead through Dzeko thanks to an early goal. Another chance for Roma came off Spinazzola on 9 when his lob hit the post. Malinovskyi’s attempts were deflected wide, while Gollini made a great save on Pellegrini’s free kick.
In the second half the comeback become reality, as after an incredible save from Gollini on Veretout. On 59 Zapata, assisted by Iličić who had just come off the bench, hit an absolute rocket in off the underside of the bar to equalise. Atalanta took the lead on 70 through Gosens, who anticipated everyone, even Mirante, for a towering header on a Iličić cross from the right. Three minutes later Muriel, who had just come on, intercepted a ball and went through on goal to score the third for Atalanta. Ibanez cleared Freuler’s lob off the line on 78. And on 85 Iličić scored the fourth with a magnificent solo move: dribbling to send his left-foot shot into the near bottom corner to seal the 4-1.
