Coppa Italia Napoli 0-0 Atalanta

A goalless semi-final first leg

At the Diego Armando Maradona stadium in Naples, the first leg of the 2020-2021 Coppa Italia semi-finals ends 0-0.

No goals, but a lot of excitement, especially in the first half, as the Nerazzurri got dangerous multiple times. The first chance of the game came off Muriel after 11 minutes from his own free-kick, and Ospina was forced to fingertip it over the bar. Then, there was a double chance on 22: first Ospina parried Pessina’s close-range shot, then Freuler’s follow-up was blocked by a defender. Toloi came really close to scoring just past the half-hour mark, as he broke into the box but then shot just wide. Five minutes later, Zapata’s volley was off target. Just before half-time, Demme’s shot was deflected off a defender.

In the second half, Muriel got immediately dangerous, but Ospina denied him once again. Then, two headers from Zapata and Gosens still created some concern in the Napoli box, but it ended 0-0. The team that qualify will be decided next Wednesday at the Gewiss Stadium.
