Not only he got the satisfaction of scoring the goal that made it 4-1 for Denmark but he also rejoiced as his team progressed from the group stage and qualified for the EURO2020 Round of 16: it was the perfect night for Joakim Mæhle.
The Nerazzurri defender is playing in the European championships as an absolute protagonist, as coach Kasper Hjulmand has in fact always included him in the line-up and Joakim, who has completed the full 90 minutes in all three Group B games, has always put in great performances.
Against clubmate Miranchuk’s Russia, Mæhle scored the fourth goal for Denmark. Among other things, that was the fourth goal of an Atalanta player in these European championships.
