Hellas Verona 1-2 Atalanta

Miranchuk and Koopmeiners on target

On matchday 17 of the 2021-2022 Serie A TIM, the Nerazzurri beat Hellas Verona 2-1 by completing a comeback at the stadium Bentegodi in Verona. By doing this, they claim the sixth away victory in a row, setting a new record in the history of the Club.

Simeone and Caprari broke the ice in a match that was highly balanced, as both teams tried to answer back shot after shot, but it was Simeone’s angled drive that broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute. The Nerazzurri responded to that with Pašalić, whose shot bounced off the post in the 33rd minute, and Miranchuk, who scored the equaliser in the 37th minute. The Russian attacking midfielder made the most of Pezzella’s ball and finished it with an elegant dribble and a precise left-foot shot into the far bottom corner.

The second half was lively, with Toloi throwing himself in the way to clear Tameze’s finish off the line and Demiral forcing a save off Montipò at the hour mark. The goal was close and Koopmeiners gave Atalanta the lead on 62 minutes when his shot took a deflection off Tameze and beat the goalkeeper. The final minutes were thrilling, as Zapata hit the side-netting, Simeone skimmed the upright with a shot from the edge of the box and Hateboer saw his strike beaten away by Montipò, in what was the final chance of the game.
