Player of the month is the initiative in collaboration with ItalianOptic that Atalanta has dedicated to their fans who vote for the best Atalanta player of the month on our social accounts.
At the end of the first round, the two players with the most likes will compete for the Player of the Month award.
Player of the Season – José Luis Palomino
After presenting the award for each month, the Atalanta fans had to name the best player of the season and they crowned José Luis Palomino! The Argentinian defender put in umpteenth top-quality displays this season for which he fully deserved to be named the ItalianOptic Player of the Season. Palomino had to struggle against a very hard opponent: Mario Pašalić, who won the POTM award for May as well as being named the Nerazzurri’s top-scorer of the season and third top-scorer in Europe among midfielders.

Luis Muriel had to make way for Mario Pašalić in May! The Croatian midfielder thus crowned a record-breaking season, winning the award of ItalianOptic Player of the Month for May, which was also the final award of the season.

After the success of the Turkish defender Merih Demiral in March, the title went to a forward: it was Luis Muriel who won the ItalianOptic Player of the Month for the first time this season after beating Mario Pašalić in the final.

Ruslan Malinovskyi handed over the award of the player of the month to Merih Demiral! The Turkish defender triumphed again after collecting the award in January and won the ItalianOptic Player of the Month for the second time this season!

Demiral, the winner for January, had to make way for a new Player of the Month Ruslan Malinovskyi, who got a brace, winning the award again in February after his success in December!
January – Merih Demiral
After Duván Zapata’s victories in the first part of the season and the triumph of Ruslan Malinovskyi in December, it was Merih Demiral who received the first Player of the Month award of 2022!
December – Ruslan Malinovskyi
After the POTM “hat-trick” of Duván Zapata, the award went to Ukraine: Ruslan Malinovskyi was the Player of the Month for December! The Ukrainian attacking midfielder beat the Dutch midfielder Teun Koopmeiners in the head-to-head final.
November – Duván Zapata
A hat-trick for Duván Zapata who was confirmed again as the Player of the Month for November! He won the Player of the Month award for the third straight time. After his success in August-September and October, the Colombian forward made it a hat-trick!
October – Duván Zapata
The Player of the Month award couldn’t be given to anyone else but him: Duván Zapata was chosen as the best Atalanta player again for October, after his feat in August and September.
August/September – Duván Zapata
Despite missing the first two matches of the season to injury, Duván Zapata made his mark in the remaining Serie A and Champions League games, deservedly winning the ‘Player of the Month’ award for August and September.
