Coach Fioretto’s Atalanta U19s delivered an outstanding performance on matchday 23 of the 2022-2023 Primavera 1 TIM “Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti” league and defeated Inter 2-0 at the Centro Bortolotti in Zingonia, scoring three crucial points for the standings.
The first half was a balanced and hard-fought affair, with Inter testing Bertini a couple of times (Iliev’s shot was parried, while Stankovic’s shot was wide) and Atalanta reacting in the 32nd minute, as Guerini set up Falleni, who the visiting goalkeeper denied. In the 39th minute, De Nipoti’s left-footed shot grazed the post.
Bertini was immediately forced into saving Esposito’s effort in the second half. However, it was Atalanta who found the breakthrough and consequently took the lead in the 54th minute, as Colombo’s corner found Regonesi at the back post who nodded in the opener. Falleni doubled the lead in the 61st minute, as he turned a rebound into the bottom corner. Fioretto’s team managed their advantage well and even made themselves dangerous again in the 71st minute with a Falleni header, which was straight at the goalkeeper, though. Lastly, two close chances arrived in the 78th minute when De Nipoti and Roaldsøy severely stung Botis’ gloves in quick succession.
