On matchday 20 of the 2020-2021 Primavera 1 TIM championship, coach Brambilla’s Atalanta return to winning ways as they beat Torino 2-1 at the Training Centre Bertolotti in Volpiano: captain Cortinovis (in the stock photo) scored the late winner.
The deadlock was broken in the 5th minute when Ghislandi’s cross was turned into the net by Todisco, who scored an own goal in the attempt to anticipate Olivieri. The hosts then tried to equalize through Spina, whose headers were off target. The same went for Scalvini on 21. Two minutes later, Gelmi smothered Vianni’s finish without any problem. Torino were awarded a penalty on 30: Gelmi excellently guessed the right corner and punched Cancello’s shot away. In the 37th minute, Sidibe fired straight at the goalkeeper, then Cancello hit the side netting with his finish. The Nerazzurri almost doubled their lead on 41 when Olivieri’s right-foot shot smacked the crossbar.
The second half began with another chance for Brambilla’s team, as Kobacki broke away from his defenders but then his finish was parried by the on-rushing goalkeeper. Torino got dangerous in the 69th minute with La Marca (his low shot was inches off target) and in the 71st minute with Greco (Gelmi parried the shot with his foot). The equalizer arrived in the 83rd minute from a corner kick when Continella nodded in at the near post. However, the Nerazzurri immediately reacted, led by captain Cortinovis, who quickly turned into the box and beat Girelli with his left foot to give Atalanta three very important points.
