On matchday 10 of the 2021-2022 Serie A TIM, the Nerazzurri perform a comeback to win 3-1 at the stadium Ferraris in Genoa against Sampdoria on the day of coach Gasperini’s 200th appearance on the Atalanta bench.
The Nerazzurri wore the black armband in memory of Umberto Colombo, one of the Atalanta players that won the Coppa Italia in 1963, who sadly passed away yesterday. The game was very intense and the deadlock was broken on 10 minutes by Caputo’s angled drive, which came after Zapata and Mæhle had almost given Atalanta an early lead. The equaliser arrived through Zapata, whose header was deflected off Askildsen in the 17th minute. Zapata then sealed Atalanta’s lead in the 21st minute when he nodded Zappacosta’s perfect cross from the right in. Caputo had the chance to draw level on 36 minutes but Musso was decisive when rushing off his line to deny him one-on-one. In the second half, Samp were looking for the equaliser but the best chances were for the Nerazzurri, as Zapata, Iličić and Piccoli almost added a third. The goal that sealed the 3-1 win arrived in the 95th minute and it was a stunner from Iličić, who hit a powerful curler into the far top corner from a tight angle.
