The Nerazzurri fans voted for the Player of the Month for October: the award goes to Duván Zapata again!
The Player of the Month award couldn’t be given to anyone else but him: Duván Zapata has been chosen as the best Atalanta player again for October, after his feat in August and September. Awarded deservedly by the Nerazzurri fans, the centre forward from Cali proved to be in excellent physical shape again last month.
The initiative is sponsored by Atalanta’s Silver Sponsor ItalianOptic as always. After the first usual thorough initial selection, the Colombian beat Josip Iličić in the final head-to-head round. The Slovenian player is definitely worth to be mentioned anyway: the Profesor delighted all the Atalanta fans with three goals and some tremendous plays.
However, Zapata was a real driving force behind the team in October, scoring 4 goals in six matches, providing one assist and setting up two opponents’ own goals.
He delivered an outstanding performance and showed pure physical power thanks to which Atalanta performed a comeback in the home match against Lazio. Moreover, he contributed to Askildsen’s own goal at the Ferraris Stadium in Genoa against Sampdoria, which was crucial.
