Welcome, Lee Congerton!

A new addition to the Club's organizational chart

Atalanta BC are pleased to announce the addition of Mr Lee Congerton to the club’s organisational chart as Head of International Development for the Sports Area.

“We are sure – said CEO Luca Percassi – that Congerton will be an added value for the international development of our Club and, precisely for this reason, we have decided to count on a person like him. Congerton’s great professionalism and in-depth knowledge of the football environment will certainly favour the growth process of an area that needs to be increasingly competitive and avant-garde”.

Originating from Wales, Lee Congerton has gained significant international experience both at a managerial and at a youth level over the years. After taking the first steps as U18 Coach for the Football Association of Wales, Academy Director at Wrexham and Academy Coach at Liverpool, he moved to Chelsea in late 2004 as Head of Youth and Senior Scouting, where he stayed until 2011. From 2011 to 2014, he was appointed Technical Director at Hamburg in Germany. He then returned to the United Kingdom, as Sporting Director at Sunderland first and then as Head of Senior Recruitment, both at Celtic and at Leicester, which he joined in May 2019.

“When Luca Percassi contacted me – claimed Congerton -, I had no hesitation and immediately said yes. I already knew the Club very well and the philosophy that differentiates them. It’s a healthy club, which never forgets where they come from despite their constant growth. Moreover, they pay extraordinary attention to their youth teams. I don’t like describing myself, as I believe that hard work is the best way to make myself known. I’d like to thank Luca for this important opportunity and, to those who love these colours, all I can say is that I will do it with all my passion, using all the knowledge I’ve gained over the years in order to make Atalanta even more competitive on the international football scene”.
