World Cup Qualifiers: third round completed

Also for the last eight Nerazzurri

The third round of qualifying games for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 has been completed. Here’s what went down today, Wednesday 31 March, but more generally how all the matches for the Atalanta players called up to their national teams went.

WEDNESDAY 31.03 matches
Matteo PESSINA and Rafael TOLOI‘s Italy won 2-0 over Lithuania in Vilnius. It was an evening of great satisfaction for the two Nerazzurri: Rafael Toloi made his debut for Italy playing as a starter and staying on the pitch throughout the match; Matteo Pessina picked up his fourth appearance for the Azzurri, the first as a starter, playing for 63 minutes.
The previous matches:
– 25/03 Italy 2-0 Northern Ireland (Pessina featured as a substitute, coming on in the 84th minute, while Toloi wasn’t featured on the match sheet).
– 28/03 Bulgaria 0-2 Italy (played in the final minutes of the match, while Toloi wasn’t featured on the match sheet for this match as well.).

Joakim MÆHLE‘s Denmark beat Austria 4-0 in Vienna. Joakim got the satisfaction of playing the full 90 minutes and also scoring the goal that made it 2-0.
The previous matches:
– 25/03 Israel 0-2 Denmark (Mæhle played for 86).
– 28/03 Denmark 8-0 Moldavia (Mæhle wasn’t on the match sheet).

Berat DJIMSITI‘s Albania claimed a 2-0 win over San Marino. Djimsiti completed 90 minutes in the victory.
The previous matches:
– 25/03 Andorra 0-1 Albania (Djimsiti played the whole match).
– 28/03 Albania 0-2 England (Djimsiti played the full 90 minutes).

Viktor KOVALENKO and Ruslan MALINOVSKYI‘s Ukraine tied 1-1 against Kazakistan in Kyiv. Ruslan played the full 90 minutes, while Viktor didn’t take to the pitch.
The previous matches:
– 24/03 France 1-1 Ukraine (Malinovskyi completed 90 minutes in the draw, while Kovalenko came on as a substitute in the 79th minute).
– 28/03 Ukraine 1-1 Finland (Malinovskyi completed 90 minutes in the draw, while Kovalenko took to the pitch in the 78th minute).

A home defeat for Germany and Robin GOSENS, who were beaten 2-1 by North Macedonia in Duisburg. Robin returned to the pitch after his injury and played 56 minutes of the match.

– 25/03 Germany 3-0 Iceland (Gosens wasn’t featured on the team sheet).
– 28/03 Romania 0-1 Germany (Gosens wasn’t featured on the match sheet).

Remo FREULER‘s Switzerland won 3-2 in the friendly match against Finland which was played in St Gallen. Remo didn’t play.

– 25/03 Bulgaria 1-3 Svizzera (Freuler played for 86 minutes).
-28/03 Switzerland 1-0 Lithuania (Remo played the first 66 minutes of the match).

TUESDAY 30/03 matches
Mario PAŠALIĆ played 54 minutes of Croatia’s 3-0 win over Malta.
The previous matches:
– 24/03 Slovenia 1-0 Croatia (Pašalić featured as a substitute in the 83rd minute)
– 27/03 Croatia 1-0 Cyprus (Pašalić scored the winner on 40 and played for 66 minutes).

Aleksey MIRANCHUK‘s Russia beat Slovakia 2-1, the Nerazzurro no. 59 took to the pitch in the 58th minute).
The previous matches:
– 24/03 Malta 1-3 Russia (Aleksey came on in the 57th minute and provided the assist for Russia’s third goal).
– 27/03 Russia 2-1 Slovenia (Miranchuk came on in the 49th minute).

A setback for Josip ILIČIĆ and his Slovenia, as Cyprus claimed a narrow win over them in Nicosia. Josip played the whole match.
The previous matches:
– 24/03 Slovenia 1-0 Croatia 1-0 (Josip played for 87 minutes).
– 27/03 Russia 2-1 Slovenia (Iličić played the full 90 minutes and scored the goal in the 36th minute).

Marten de ROON‘s the Netherlands hit seven past Gibraltar away. Marten didn’t take to the pitch.

– 24/03 Turkey 4-2 The Netherlands (de Roon played for 62 minutes).
– 27/03 The Netherlands 2-0 Latvia (Marten didn’t take to the pitch).
