Extremely important and prestigious award for Gian Piero Gasperini, as he won the Panchina d’Oro prize (Golden Bench) as the best coach in Serie A during the 2018-2019 season. The award, which was the result of the voting expressed by Serie A fellow coaches, organised by the Italian Soccer Coaches Association, was given during the official ceremony held at the Coverciano Technical Centre and it crowns an impressive season which ended with the historic third place in the league and the qualification to the UEFA Champions League.

The Nerazzurri coach is excited: “I’m really proud to have won such a prestigious prize. Behind Atalanta’s wonderful season, there’s the work of many people, of my co-workers, of the players, of the club and first of all of president Percassi who put us in the best conditions to work at our best. And then I’d say that this prize must be divided among all the city of Bergamo, which at this time represents a nice, enthusiastic and civil example of how you should follow football. This is everybody’s award. We wish ourselves we can continue like this in the future as well because football needs examples like Bergamo’s, with the academy, the sense of belonging, the deep connection with their culture and roots”.
