After every UEFA Champions League knockout match, UEFA will give the official Man of the Match award to the players that stood out the most on the pitch.

UEFA technical observers attending every match will decide who deserves the Man of the Match award, which will be given to the player after the final whistle.

For Atalanta-Valencia, the Man of the Match award was given to the Nerazzurri defender Hans Hateboer, who scored two of the four goals netted by Atalanta against Valencia (4-1 was the final result).

Hateboer was awarded at the end of the match.
