Road to UCL last 16: focus on Valencia

Celades's team are seventh in the league

Valencia, Atalanta’s opponents in the 2019-2020 UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second leg, beat Real Betis 2-1 at the Mestalla in the last round of the league on Saturday. Gameiro scored the opener in the first half, while Parejo scored the second for Valencia, before the visitors’ goal scored by Moron in stoppage time.

Thanks to this win, the team coached by Albert Celades get away from Villareal and reach seventh place with 41 points, two lengths behind Real Sociedad that still have to play one match, getting closer to Atletico Madrid in fifth place with 44 points, as they drew in the last round. The table looks really short as usual, with third place Sevilla just five points away.

Before the UCL last 16 second leg on 10th March, Valencia are set to face Alaves away on Friday 6th March.
