His arrival is also official: Cristian Romero is a new Atalanta player! Here is his first interview for the Nerazzurri.

“First of all I’m very happy to be here, it’s a great club. I didn’t know the training centre, the staff. I think they proved to all of Italy that they are one of the strongest sides in Italy from the football point of view. I think it’s the right choice for me to continue to grow, giving my best. Hopefully we can get great results in the league”. He then continued, “I thank Genoa, as they brought me to Italy from Argentina, where I felt bad and I didn’t play, so thanks to Genoa for all they did for me. Now I’m here, I’m looking forward to playing, fighting for this team, I’m really happy. I’m a young guy with many dreams in my head, I want to reach the Argentina international team, which is my main goal. Then I want to showcase myself to earn a place as a starter for Atalanta”.

When asked about Gasperini: “I met Gasperini yesterday. I worked with Juric at Genoa, he’s a great coach that made me play in Serie A, allowed me to improve so much and trusted me. I’ll always be thankful to him. Now I’m here with Gasperini, people told me that he’s quite similar. Hopefully I can do well and showcase what I can do. I can’t wait to start fighting. I have to improve regarding the amount of cards I’ve received, but I think I’ll get better at this in this team”.

About the Champions League: “That’s another dream for me, playing in the Champions League. I’d only ever watched it on TV in Argentina and at Genoa. Playing in the Champions League is something else, I must give something more from a football standpoint. I’m really happy to be in a great team like Atalanta”.
