On matchday 36 of the 2020-2021 Serie A TIM championship, Atalanta beat Benevento 2-0 at the Gewiss Stadium.

The first chance of the game arrived through Pessina in the 7th minute, but his left-foot finish was off target. The game was unlocked on 22: Malinovskyi’s through ball found Muriel’s soft touch, who prodded it past Montipò. Benevento got dangerous in the 24th minute with Barba, but Romero parried his on-target finish with his back. It is worth mentioning Zapata’s chance before half-time: his finish – after an insisted team move – was wide. 

The second half started off with a cheeky back-heel flick from Muriel, who fired from point-blank range and forced a save from Montipò, who deflected for a corner. The Colombian then blasted over on 49. Pašalić, who had just come on, doubled the Nerazzurri’s lead on 67 at the end of a splendid move: Zapata pass, Miranchuk let it through and Pasalic put it into the net. Benevento lost Caldirola for a second bookable offence and the match ended 2-0. The Nerazzurri are still second, now on 75 points.
