Atalanta’s stats in Serie A
The official statistics provided by Lega
The campaign that has just come to an end gave us great satisfaction, broken records and a prestigious finish. The official statistics of the 2019-20 Serie A TIM season provided by the Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie A also testify that it was a season to remember. Gasperini's team tops different rankings.
In addition to the most goals scored (98 with an average of 2.58 goals per game), the Nerazzurri top also the shots table with 534 total finishes, 313 of which were on goal (this was also the best data in the Serie A) and the assists table (61). Second place for corners (247) and headers (14). Among the other items considered, Atalanta are fourth for total ball possession (28'31 average per game), third for ball possession in the opponent's midfield (13'15 average), ninth for average km run per game (108.249 km) and useful crosses (210), sixth for posts and crossbar (16), seventh for offsides (52). With 102 saves made, Atalanta are eighteenth, which is a good data as it means that the defence conceded few finishes. Lastly, a curious data: the Nerazzurri's matches lasted less on average, 95'38 minutes of playing time (while the actual time, 51'22, was the ninth value in Serie A).
THE INDIVIDUAL RECORDS
The Nerazzurri are the protagonists also on the individual standings: Atalanta are the only team to have three players in the top 10 of the goal scorers with Zapata and Muriel in fifth place with 18 goals and Iličić in tenth with 15. Papu is also the first Nerazzurri player for shots, 71 (16th on the table), 44 on target, and for fouls against (76, 10th in Serie A). The best Nerazzurri player for recoveries is Palomino, who is the eight best with 402 recoveries, while the "marathon runner" of the team was Freuler with an average of 10,583 kms run per game (37th best), just ahead of the other 'moped' in the Nerazzurri midfield, de Roon, a few kilometers away (10,572). Zapata is the second player in the entire league for headed goals (5), in a ranking that also sees Gosens in the top 10 with 3. head (15th place in the ranking). Finally, Muriel and Zapata are also the unluckiest Nerazzurri players with 3 hits each between posts and crossbar (15th place in the ranking).
