Marten De Roon: “Proud of the team”

UCL quarter-finals post-match interview

The disappointment of seeing the Champions League semi-finals fade a few minutes before the end of the match against PSG is undeniable, but also the certainty of having played an incredible season and Marten de Roon is: “Proud of the team, of Bergamo “.

Marten, what a pity.

“Yes. We’re disappointed now, it’s normal. Maybe we’ll be more serene tomorrow, knowing that we provided a great performance. I’m proud of my team, of Bergamo and everybody, but now there’s disappointed. When you get this close, it hurts even more. We felt the semifinal, then with 10 seconds to go, we conceded a goal. Also that second goal, we probably were too disappointed after the goal we had conceded. I have no words now. I’m struggling. I want to say that I’m very proud of this team”.

You are proud, but also the Bergamaschi, Atalanta fans and not only them are proud, as you did extremely well. You played a great match, it hurts to be eliminated like this. But Atalanta walk out of this with their head held high.

“Yes. We’ll be more serene from tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. Of course we’re proud of our city, Bergamo, and the Bergamaschi. We all had a difficult year. We had big troubles with Covid. The Bergamaschi never give up. We never give up either. We’ll try to repeat ourselves in the next one”.
