Atalanta B.C. announce that footballer Cristian Romero joins the team from Juventus on a two-season loan with the option right to buy.
Born in Cordoba on the 27th of April 1998, Cristian is a a grim, reactive centre-back who is effective at scoring thanks to his game skills. He grew up at Belgrano, also tasting Italian football by participating in the Viareggio Cup in two editions when he was not yet of age. At the age of 18, he made his debut in the first team playing as starter against Independiente, facing an old Atalanta acquaintance like German Denis. About twenty appearances are enough to convince Genoa to bring him to Italy in 2018. He made his debut on matchday 9 and was among the protagonists of the draw at home of the Italian champions Juventus: it was a fiery debut against the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, in which Cristian immediately highlighted his great potential, impressing with his great personality. He scored his first goal among the professionals against Udinese (2-2) on his second appearance.
His first season in Serie A was very good, so much that Juventus bought him to leave him another year at Genoa on loan where he could regularly play. He made 60 appearances for Genoa, all as a starter, with 3 goals.
His performances also earned him the call-ups to the Argentina youth selections. He participated in the South American Championship with the U20 in 2017 playing 7 games, before making his debut with the U23 in September last year in the match won 3-1 against Colombia.
