The Russian attacking midfielder signs permanently

Atalanta B.C. announce the signing on a permanent basis of footballer Aleksej Miranchuk from Lokomotiv Moscow.

Born on the 17th of October (the same day of the Club’s birth) in 1995 in Slavjansk-na Kubani, in the Southern Russia, he is a left-handed attacking midfielder who has above average technical and ballistic qualities, he is tactically flexible and good at both finishing and setting the teammates’ goals.

After the first football steps in his school’s team, Olympic, he moved to Moscow as a teenager with his twin brother Anton and completed his entire growth path with Lokomotiv from sixteen years old to the first team. At Lokomotiv he immediately showed his great qualities, winning the Russian league three times in the youth categories and even scoring in two finals. In October 2012, just seventeen, he was named the MVP of the Russian Football Union Cup. A few months later he also made his debut for the first team in the match against Kuban. He wore the Lokomotiv shirt for nine seasons (since the 20th of April in 2013), playing 228 games with 43 goals and 45 assists under his belt, and winning a Russian league title, three Russian cups and a Russian Super Cup. Personal titles also include the award for best Under 21 player of the 2013-14 Russian Premier League.

He is a player who scores important goals, especially in moments that matter, such as in the 2015 Russian Cup final overtime against Kuban Krasnodar when he won his first trophy as a senior, or in the cup in 2017 with the goal that put the game to bed in the last act against Ural, or in the 2019 Super Cup with the decisive brace against Zenit. The one that has just ended was, numbers in hand, his best season ever with 16 goals overall, 12 of them were scored in the league, his personal best, and two in the Champions League, both against Juventus. Parallel to the club, the career in the Russian national team is also significant, with 25 appearances and 5 goals (including excellent victims such as Belgium and Spain), which began early at the age of just twenty, after coming through the youth teams from U18 to 21. And now a new challenge with the Nerazzurri colours.
