Brush up with us on the upcoming clash

Atalanta are off to a truly pyrotechnic start of the month: Gasperini’s men host current Serie A leader Inter on Saturday, November 4, in an 18:00 CET kick-off.

Which was the final scoring of our last match against a pace-setting Inter?

No need to step too far back for a rewind of Atalanta’s latest matchup against a then-pace-setting Inter. Back in January 2022, La Beneamata, leader of the Serie A standing at the time, dropped by at the Gewiss Stadium to play Atalanta: despite the many M.I.A.s, the hosts didn’t seem to be much affected on the pitch. Despite a higher ball possession, Inter couldn’t find an outlet throughout the first half – except for a chance by Sanchez, to whom Musso denied the goal with a superb save. The second half opened up with Pessina’s clear-cut chance, denied by a dashing display from Handanovic. The black-and-blue teams traded blows throughout the second half: with Pašalić’s header and Muriel’s right-footed drive countering Dzeko’s and Vidal’s chances. With the 0-0 goalless draw at the end of a truly riveting match, Atalanta put the foot down and halted Inter’s winning streak of 8 consecutive victories.

Who did not score his first Serie A goal against Inter?

Aleksey Miranchuk didn’t wait long to find his first Serie A goal: the skilled Russian midfielder struck just 20 minutes after hitting the pitch from the bench in the 1-1 draw between Atalanta and Inter played back on November 8 2020. Berat Djimsiti erred on the side of caution instead: the Albanian defender scored after 36 matches, 30 of which having been played with Benevento, a nonetheless ordinary record for a defender. Out of the ordinary was instead his match of choice to feature his first Serie A goal, namely Atalanta’s 4-1 home victory played on November 11 2018. Lastly, while Palomino took his first bow earlier than his defensive colleague, namely at his 17th appearance for Atalanta; Inter was not El Jefe’s victim: in the Crotone downpour, José scored the equalizer, his first out of his 9 goals so far, to make it 1-1 in the closing minutes.

In which exact minute did Pinilla score in Atalanta’s 2-1 win back in 2016?

This trivia draws back to Matchday 9 of the 2016/17 Serie A season, namely the matchup played on October 23. Back on the upswing after a bumpy start, Atalanta host Inter: the Orobic side were off to a great start, taking the lead on 10 minutes with a Masiello header, who slotted in Kurtić’s headed assist. Despite the many chances to double the lead, it was Inter who found the back of the net in the second half with Eder’s great second-touch free-kick. Despite the scales seemingly tipping in favour of the away side, the tables turned in the closing minutes: after dribbling past Santon, Kessie ended up winning a penalty after being slide-tackled by Inter’s then-defender in the follow-up. Pinilla stepped up to the penalty spot, nullifying Handanovic’s plunge with an angled drive, to bring Atalanta 2-1 up on 88 minutes.
