Academy: the outcomes of the Easter Tournaments

Outcomes of the fixtures on the festive weekend

In a weekend revolving around the customary attendance to Easter tournaments, the Black-and-blue Academy can confidently trace an overall positive and fruitful balance.

As for the Under 16, not only did they conquer the “Gallini Cup” played in Fiume Veneto defeating Udinese 4-1 in the final (courtesy of Bono, Bonsignori Goggi, Inacio and Diouf); but Bono and Inacio have also been crowned, respectively, best player in the tournament and best scorer (with 6 goals). Likewise, the Under 15 came out victorious from the “Memorial Claudio e Sergio Sassi” tournament (held at San Michele in Emilia Romagna) as they defeated Sassuolo 9-8 on penalties after regular times closed on the 0-0 aggregate.

Last but not least comes the triumph of the Under 14 (pictured in the cover photo) in the “Pecci-Memorial Giovanardi” trophy played at Bellaria Igea Marina: after the 2-1 victory clinched against Torino in the semifinal, the Black-and-blues imposed themselves over Cesena in the final with a 5-1 walkover (courtesy of Lung, with a brace, and single goals by Villa, Ricella and Pascali). Despite not seizing the final victory, both the Under 18s (competing in the international tournament in Bellinzona, a.k.a. “Wambo Cup” ) and the Under 17s (attending the “Maggioni-Righi” Cup in Borgaro Torinese) will definitely put their participations to the aforementioned tournaments down to experience (also given the international gravity of said competitions).

As for our Female sides, likewise embroiled in festive tournaments, whereas the Under 17 seized a second place in the “Torneo Nobis-Memorial Vincenzo Barrea” in Borgaro Torinese after defeating Juventus and Torino and only coming off worse in the final against Inter (also with Maya Amoruso and  Sofia Belloli respectively crowned golden boot and golden glove of the trophy), the Under 15 claimed the third place in the “Yes Cup” played in Milan. Ultimately, not only had the Under 13 side also seized a budding third place in the Ravenna Top Cup (obtained after the 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid and the narrow defeat suffered against Slavia Praga) but the attendance to this competition also served as a benchmark for our lasses to prove their schemes and tactics against two different football philosophies (namely, the Spanish and Czech ones).
