Atalanta 1-2 Hellas Verona

Scalvini's first Serie A goal wasn't enough

On matchday 33 fixture of the 2021-2022 Serie A TIM, Hellas Verona win 2-1 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.

The first chance of the game was for the Nerazzurri within 6 minutes, as Malinovskyi cut inside but Montipò denied him. Zappacosta also had an effort on target, which was saved, and then Caprari blasted over. Faraoni’s strike bounced off the post on 25 minutes, Caprari clipped the crossbar from a free kick one minute later and Musso denied Simeone in the 27th minute. The Nerazzurri responded through Zapata, who volleyed wide on 37 minutes. The visitors took the lead in the 2nd minute of injury time through Ceccherini, who nodded in assisted by Simeone (his goal was first disallowed for offside and then validated after a VAR review).

In the second half, Hellas Verona doubled their lead on 55 minutes after Ilic breaks into the box and his shot is straight at Musso, but the ricochet bouncing off Musso causes an own goal from Koopmeiners. Musso denied Lazovic on 59 minutes and at the other end, Montipò denied Palomino, who had gone for a header, with a great save in the 66th minute. Lasagna hit the post from distance on 81 minutes and one minute later the Nerazzurri halved their disadvantage through Scalvini, who nodded in from Zappacosta’s cross to score his first Serie A goal.
