Atalanta 2-3 Inter

Lookman and Palomino on target

On matchday 15 of the 2022-2023 Serie A TIM season, Inter won 3-2 in Bergamo.

Gasperini lost Toloi to injury in the warm-up, and it was Palomino, on his seasonal debut, who replaced him. After a Dimarco effort that was easily smothered by Musso, Koopmeiners tested Onana in the 15th minute from a tight angle and one minute later, a Palomino free header from a corner was again parried by the visiting goalkeeper. The deadlock was broken in the 25th minute after Zapata won a penalty for a De Vrij foul that was converted by Lookman into the top corner. Dzeko equalised in the 36th minute for Inter assisted by Lautaro Martinez.

In the second half, first a shot from Zapata and then one from Mkhitaryan were followed by Inter taking the lead through Dzeko in the 56th minute on a Dimarco assist. A shot over the crossbar from Lautaro Martinez on the stroke of the hour mark preceded Inter’s 3-1 lead with a deflection from the same Argentine striker that caused Palomino’s unfortunate own goal in the 61st minute. However, Palomino himself managed to pull one back in the 77th minute with a diving header, but despite Atalanta pressing hard in the final minutes in search of an equaliser, the result did not change. Now it is time for the long league break for the World Cup.
