Group A Matchday 17 of the 2023-2024 Serie C NOW saw Atalanta Under-23s come off worse from the “Città di Caravaggio” stadium as the visitors edged past Modesto’s lads.
The first half opened up with the Nerazzurri on the offensive: Italeng laid it off for Di Serio, whose attempt was smothered by a Padova defender. The Biancoscudati took the lead on 29 minutes with Marcillo, who, after gathering the ball in the follow-up of a free-kick, controlled it before firing his shot into the net.
In the second half, our Under-23 side got on the front foot and produced scoring threats from the get-go: Capone had a double chance when he gathered in the box on 46 minutes but failed to find the target and then with a 64th-minute scorcher that was saved by Donnarumma. Di Serio also gave it a whirl in the 84th minute when his effort was deflected for a corner before the striker was sent off on 92 minutes after being shown a second yellow card. Despite all their efforts, coach Modesto’s lads could not capitalize on their chances, which resulted in the visitors’ 1-0 victory.
