Atalanta v Genoa: the stats of the game

Another clean sheet at the Gewiss Stadium

On the grounds of the 2-0 win claimed last night over Genoa, Atalanta have kept the visitors’ scoreboard frozen for another Serie A round, namely making it the fourth consecutive home clean sheet in Italy’s top-flight division – and the fifth overall if we also include the UEL clash against Raków. As highlighted in this week’s “Opta Facts” issue from Stats Performs, a canny inexpugnable streak last happened in March 2017 with five consecutive league matches.

Out of the nine fixtures played thus far, the Nerazzurri have denied their opponents the goal on six occasions.

Moving on to yesterday’s scorers, while last night’s goal made Ademola Lookman the 4th ever-best Nigerian goalscorer in the Serie A (waylaying the likes of Stephen Makinwa, a fellow Atalantino nonetheless, with 16 goals each); Éderson has reached another personal scoring best: for the first time since his move to the Serie A, the Carioca midfielder found his scoring ways in two consecutive matches.

Marco Carnesecchi couldn’t ask for a better first match at the Gewiss Stadium: having all his previous appearances for Atalanta been made in away games, Marco debuted in front of his home crowd with a win and a clean sheet to top it all off. Not bad for his “first day in the office”!
