Atalanta v Udinese: the stats of the game

Fort Gewiss Stadium brought 25 points in 11 games

Against Udinese, Atalanta claimed their 5th consecutive win at the Gewiss Stadium –their 6th if we add the Coppa Italia into the equation. As pointed out by Opta’s Stat Perform, Gasperini’s team claimed 25 points in the 11 domestic Serie A matches played thus far this season: never before since the introduction of the “3-points-per-win” canon have Atalanta done better after as many home matches in a single season (on par with the 25 points of the 1996/97 campaign). In addition, today was the 7th clean sheet in the first 11 domestic Serie A fixtures, a first since the 1989/90 campaign –when the clean sheets amounted to eight.

Charles De Ketelaere (seven goals and seven assists, of which two were delivered during this very same game) is one of the only three 2023/24 Serie A players with at least 7 goals and 7 assists to their name, with the other two being Marcus Thuram and Olivier Giroud. Plus, ever since December 2023, no other player among the Big Five European leagues bar Kylian Mbappé (with 15) has favoured more goals than the Belgian forward (more precisely, 10: 5 goals and 5 assists) in all competitions.

In his last five Atalanta appearances in all tournaments as a starter, Aleksey Miranchuk took part in five goals (namely, bagging two nets and delivering three assists).

With six goals scored in his 8 league starts, out of all the players who have scored 5+ goals thus far in the 2023/24 Serie A, Gianluca Scamacca is the one to have reached this scoring tally with the lowest number of appearances as a starter.

Closing off with some individual figures extracted from the official Serie A Match Report, while Scamacca is the player with the most number of shots (4, 3 on target) ahead of Emil Holm; De Ketelaere took the crown for almost every other single offensive stat: from successful passes on the offensive third (20, ahead of Éderson), more goal chances created (4), more balls played (72, on par with Joao Ferreira) and key-passes provided (2, tied with Éderson). Berat Djimsiti is instead the player with more successful passes (57), preceding Giorgio Scalvini (51).
