Atalanta X ATS Bergamo: signed the health and safety covenant at the Gewiss Stadium

The agreement was signed this afternoon in the press conference room of the Gewiss Stadium

The covenant on the steps to be taken concerning the health and safety policies throughout the third stage of the renovation of the Gewiss Stadium was signed this afternoon in the press room of the black-and-blue fief.

Massimo Giupponi, General Director of ATS Bergamo, and Roberto Spagnolo, Atalanta BC’s Head of Operations and appointed coordinator of the Stadio Atalanta projects and construction site, attended the signing of the agreement.

As previously occurred in 2019 and 2020, respectively during the refurbishment of the Curva Nord Pisani and the Tribuna Rinascimento, the synergy between ATS and Atalanta concerning occupational health and safety measures is bound to reprise also for this 3rd phase.

Upon its deployment yesterday and due to its type, its implementation deadlines and its complexity, the construction site at the Gewiss Stadium will require both technical expertise and the ongoing presence of an aggregated staffing amounting to 400 people, both in terms of workforce and technicians,  to ensure the proper functioning throughout the various stages and processes.
The covenant is aimed at ensuring the highest possible level in terms of Health and Safety within the construction site, while also fixing a 30% reduction in both injury severity and frequency over the figures registered in the construction industry in Lombardy over the past three years, and the prevention of any lethal accident.

Massimo Giupponi, Director of ATS – Health Protection Agency- Bergamo stated as follows: “We’re most pleased with the signing of the agreement as this new construction site of utmost relevance is bound to re-shape an iconic part of our city, placed between two prominent landmarks such as the former Convento dei Celestini (Monastery of the Celestines) and the Lazzaretto (lazaret). The pledge to governance on occupational Health and Safety measures in work environments is also put into place through such initiatives, where ATS Bergamo plays an active road ever since the preliminary operations carrying out their mission of preventing any accident, also thanks to the close bonds and objectives shared with Atalanta”.

It was then the turn of Roberto Spagnolo, Atalanta BC’s Head of Operations and appointed coordinator of the Stadio Atalanta projects and construction site, to hold the floor: “With the third stage of the renovation of the Gewiss Stadium being officially given the green light today, a new and even more complex opus than the ones entailing first the Curva Nord Pisani and then the Tribuna Rinascimento is in store for us. Hence, Atalanta will place their paramount care on every single aspect revolving around health and safety matters, seen as non-negotiable priorities for the Club. Consequently, our joined efforts with ATS Bergamo will be a key step with respect to any form of prevention”.
