Imposing themselves 1-3 against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, the Nerazzurri passed the first international test of the preseason with flying colours against a Premier League regular.

Atalanta took the lead in the starting minutes at the end of an all-out assault: while the post first denied Koopminers the opener, it was Mæhle who cut though the box and broke the deadlock, capitalizing on Pašalić’s surgical through pass from the right. Our lads doubled the lead in the 36th minute when Lookman’s through pass found Koopmeiners, who tricked Neto with a chip shot. Two minutes after, the hosts narrowed the divide from a corner kick courtesy of Senesi.

After exchanging blows throughout the second half with, respectively, Lookman going inches away from the goal twice and with Smith’s shot ending a couple of feet from the post, Atalanta eventually took the upper hand on 86 minutes with Latte Lath, who slotted in the rebound ricocheted on a Cherry defender from Koopmeiners’ free kick, sealing the match on a 3-1 aggregate.

After a day off, the Nerazzurri will reprise training at the Centro Bortolotti in Zingonia on Monday with an afternoon session to be held behind closed doors.
