All the satisfaction of Marten de Roon who finally won at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam, he did not score, but it’s okay as the Nerazzurri midfielder said adding: “We played as a team”. Here’s the post-match interview.
Marten, you didn’t score but you won.
“I almost scored in the first half, but, as I said yesterday, winning or getting a result today was much more important. We made it, we suffered as well. Fair enough. We defended well, we played like a team. We deserved to get a result, perhaps not the win, but at least a draw. It’s okay, we’re though again. We did it again and we’re really happy”.
It was never ending.
“No, but after the 1-0 and their dismissal, we calmed down a bit. Before that, they were pressing a lot and it was difficult. But in the end we were waiting for the final whistle to celebrate”.
How happy are you?
“I’m extremely happy. We’ve been struggling a bit in the league lately, then we got a great win at Anfield. Then there’ve been rumours… but we’ve always been a team. We’re a great team who get great results against great teams like Ajax and Liverpool. We can be very proud as a team, a club and also a city”.
