Gasperini’s 300 games in charge of Atalanta

The coach tops the all-time list of managers in club history

There has never been anyone quite like Gian Piero Gasperini in the history of Atalanta. The coach from Grugliasco hit an important milestone in Udine, as he took charge of his 300th game for Atalanta, becoming the manager with the most games at the helm of the Nerazzurri in the club’s history. Gasperini overtook another coach who rightfully entered the hearts of all Atalanta fans, Emiliano Mondonico. In detail, his 300 matches in charge of Atalanta across all competitions can be broken down as follows: 237 in Serie A, 20 in the Coppa Italia and 43 in European competitions (of which 23 were in the UEFA Champions League).

His journey at Atalanta began in the 2016-2017 season and brought incredible satisfaction to the club and all the supporters of these colours. Indelible pages were written in the history of the club, as they were taken to a European dimension they had never reached before. Precisely, his career at Atalanta began on 13 August 2016 with a 3-0 victory over Cremonese in the 3rd Round of the Coppa Italia, which was the first of 155 victories at the helm of Atalanta. Under his leadership, 586 goals were scored, almost two per game on average, and many records were set. These are important numbers, which embellish such a prestigious milestone in Atalanta’s more than 100-year history.
