Gasperini wins the 2019-2020 Panchina d’oro

The coach wins again after last year

Gian Piero Gasperini has won the Panchina d’oro (Golden Bench) award for the second year in a row. This important and prestigious recognition award, given by the FIGC Technical Sector, is the result of the votes expressed by the Serie A coaches and it is related to the 2019-2020 season.

This is an award that crowns another remarkable season, in which the coach from Grugliasco was able to give the Nerazzurri team a prominent role both nationally and internationally. He achieved historic results in the league, finishing third, and in the UEFA Champions League, where he reached the quarter-finals. He has brought Atalanta, for several years now, to compete with teams accustomed to fighting every year for the win of the Scudetto and cups.

Gian Piero Gasperini thus wins the award again after last year’s success thanks to the great work done and the results achieved on the Nerazzurri bench. And he thus enters the small elite of coaches who were able to write their name in the Hall of Fame of this important award for two consecutive seasons. This gong is even more significant as it comes from the votes expressed by his colleagues. Not only that, it is worth mentioning that the coach from Grugliasco also received the Panchina d’argento (Silver Bench) award for the 2006-2007 season, when his team, Genoa, had been promoted to Serie A. Therefore, this is the third time he has been named coach of the season overall.
