Napoli v Atalanta: the stats of the game

A historic second 3-0 win in Naples for the Nerazzurri

Thanks to the 3-0 away win over Napoli at the Armando Maradona stadium on Easter Eve, Atalanta have climbed up to 50 points in 29 games.

As pointed out by Opta’s Stats Perform, it is the Nerazzurri’s second-ever win in Naples with (at least) a three-goal lead -with the latter being another 3-0 win on the 25th of March 1956.

With scoring the game’s opener, Aleksey Miranchuk has thus reached Igor Simutenkov (tied on 13 goals) as the 3rd most prolific Russian scorer in the Serie A history; with only Igor Kolyvanov (44) and Igor Shalimov (25) preceding Lesha.

Additionally, Atalanta’s 59 has shown both sides of his offensive prowess (namely scored a goal and provided an assist) within a single Serie A game for the second time in his career after his previous stint in the Atalanta vs. Sampdoria game of February 28 2022. Having scored one and provided four assists, Miranchuk has favoured  6 goals in his last 3 starts in all competitions – as a further fun fact, all taking place in March.

Having now reached a double-digit tally, Gianluca Scamacca has scored all his 10 goals only after featuring in the starting XI  (in 15 appearances). Together with Real Madrid’s striker Joselu (with 11 goals), the black-and-blue striker is one the only two players within Europe’s Big-5 leagues to have scored 10+ goals in less than 15 starts so far this season.

With the 3-0 goal bearing Teun Koopmeiners’ signature, namely, TK7‘s very first Serie A goal as a sub, the Dutchman has now reached a personal bounty of 11 nets. Bettering his previous record of 10 goals established in the 2022/23 campaign, only  Jude Bellingham (16) can flaunt better scoring figures amid Europe’s Top 5 divisions than the black-and-blue number 7.

With five assists provided in the current campaign, not only is Mario Pašalić one key pass shy of equaling his personal best (dating back to the 2021/22 season), but he’s also the second-best 2023/24 Serie A wingman – only behind Weston McKennie with five.

Closing off with some further individual figures, the customary Serie A’s official Match Report underscores how: Miranchuk was the leading Nerazzurro in terms of shots fired (4, 2 on target); successful passes on the offensive third (15), goal chances created (3, on par with Pašalić) and key passes (2, once again tied with Pašalić and Ademola Lookman). While Marten de Roon was Atalanta’s benchmark for balls played (68), Davide Zappacosta leads the chart of ball retrievals (6).
