This was midfielder Matteo Pessina’s comment after receiving his second Azzurri call-up.

“It was in the air, but it’s official now. I’m really very glad. I think this call-up is the result of work and commitment and this makes me even happier. I have worked to achieve these goals, to play in the Champions League and to wear the National team jersey since I was a child. Even when I injured my knee, I never gave up and continued to train with confidence and dedication. I have to thank my parents, as they were the first to write to me and to congratulate me on this new call-up. My dad and my mum have always supported me in every situation. The Percassi’s also believed in me. They proved it once more last summer, and for this, I have to thank both the President and his son Luca. I also have to thank coach Gasperini, who has made me grow, and my teammates, who helped me settle into a well-established team”.
