On matchday 12 of the Primavera 1 TIM 2020-21 “Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti” championship, Spal win 1-0 at the Bortolotti Centre in Zingonia. The positive streak of the Nerazzurri Primavera thus came to an end after six games.
The Nerazzurri played with a black armband and a minute’s silence was observed before kick-off in memory of Willy Ta Bi. The match was really balanced, the first attempt came off Moro, whose curler on 16 was saved by Gelmi. Two minutes later, Campagna fired inches wide. On 20 Vorlicky fired over after going past two defenders and bursting into the box from the left. Finally, Cuellar’s curler on 35 was punched away by Gelmi for a corner.
In the second half, coach Brambilla threw on Cortinovis, who just came back from injury. And he got dangerous right after four minutes, as he burst into the box and kicked straight at the goalkeeper. Gyabuaa then fired over. Spal took the lead on 53 after Moro converted a penalty (challenge between Cittadini and Yabre) and the Nerazzurri match turned into an uphill game. Vorlicky reacted to it on 54 with a curler inches off target, while an angled drive skimmed the post on 62. The Nerazzurri pressure built up but Sidibe’s (on 72) and Cortinovis’ finishes flashed off target. It was an attacking-minded Atalanta U19s, as also Rosa and De Nipoti (in the stock photo) joined their teammates on the pitch. The final chance came off Cortinovis again on 89, as his free-kick from the edge of the box was punched away by the goalkeeper.
