Coach Fioretto’s Atalanta U19s drew 2-2 against Empoli on matchday 18 of the 2022-2023 Primavera 1 TIM “Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti” league, as the victory for the Nerazzurri was inches away at the Centro Bortolotti in Zingonia.
The visitors had the first chance of the game, with Renzi’s shot on 6 minutes being well turned behind for a corner by Pardel. The deadlock was broken in the 22nd minute through Stabile’s effort from Palestra. In the 34th minute, Atalanta threatened again, this time with an inches-wide Muhameti header from Del Lungo’s long cross. Vorlický also had a go before half-time, as his right-foot strike in the 45th minute was slightly over.
Atalanta doubled their lead in the 49th minute with a Chiwisa shot from the edge of the box that beat the visiting goalkeeper. Empoli, however, immediately pulled one back through Alessio, who threatened again in the 58th minute with a header that was wide and an effort in the 75th minute that was parried by Pardel. In the 82nd minute, the Nerazzurri almost restored a two-goal lead when Riccio’s shot was punched away by the visiting goalkeeper and Vavassori hit a defender on the rebound. Empoli found the equaliser in the 93rd minute with Degli Innocenti converting a free kick, which defined the final scoreline at the Centro Bortolotti in Zingonia.
