The 27th round of the 2022-2023 Primavera 1 TIM “Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti” saw Hellas Verona win 2-1 at the Sinergy Stadium in Verona.
The hosts came up with an early threat, as Bertini had to turn a Caia finish over the crossbar in the 13th minute, but Atalanta U19s reacted through Bordiga, who stung Boseggia’s gloves in the 20th minute. Cazzadori opened the scoring for Hellas in the 31st minute by beating Bertini with his left foot. Before half-time, the Nerazzurri had a chance to level up the match when they were awarded a penalty following Gomez’s late challenge on Del Lungo in the box, but Boseggia parried Riccio’s penalty (45 minutes).
The hosts almost doubled their lead through Caia in the opening minutes of the second half (48 minutes), but Atalanta were not ready to give in and produced several goalscoring chances through Palestra (59 minutes) and substitutes De Nipoti and Vlahović (64 minutes), with the Serbian forcing Boseggia into a stunning save. However, from a potential Atalanta equaliser, the hosts found a way to add another goal through Caia in the 66th minute. The two-goal lead did not discourage the Nerazzurri, though, and almost cut the disadvantage through De Nipoti, whose header was cleared off by Calabrese on 67 minutes. And their pressure paid off in the 82nd minute when Vavassori (pictured in the cover) nodded in from Palestra’s cross from the right to make it 2-1. In the final minutes of the game things looked promising for Atalanta, but despite their attempts to even the score, Hellas held out and brought home the victory.
