Mission accomplished for Atalanta’s Primavera side as Bosi’s lads defeated Spal 5-0 at the Centro Bortolotti in the 2023-2024 Primavera TIM Cup Round of 64 and qualified for the next round.
After the stalemate reigned supreme at the break, the game took another turn in the second half when Atalanta scored five times. The first half was balanced, as Pardel made the first save of the match on 22 minutes. Vavassori replied five minutes later but the visiting defence cleared his effort. Pardel was called upon in the 33rd minute when he had to parry Kane’s close-range attempt one-on-one and minutes before half-time, Simonetto’s effort was over.
In the second half, the Nerazzurri (who wore the away shirt today) stepped on the gas. After Bonanomi and Manzoni were inches away from a goal between the 51st and 52nd minute, it was Vavassori who broke the deadlock following a corner one minute later. Vavassori wasn’t done yet, and doubled Atalanta’s lead on 65 minutes, picking up Bonanomi’s cross from the right. The 3-0 goal was courtesy of Bonanomi himself, who perfectly combined with Castiello on 72 minutes. After an 84th-minute own goal set up by Simonetto, Guerini made it 5-0 in the 89th minute with a spectacular overhead kick.
Atalanta Under-19s will now take on Vicenza in the Round of 32 tie scheduled for Wednesday 1 November.
