Sassuolo 0-2 Atalanta: stats of the match

Four Atalanta debuts peppered with a goal and an assist

In the Reggio Emilia outing against Sassuolo, Atalanta clinched their sixth consecutive win in season openers and the 5th in a row if we consider Matchdays 1 fixtures played away from Bergamo.

Four players made their official debuts donning the Atalanta shirt: while Sead Kolašinac featured in our starting XI, Charles De Ketelaere, Gianluca Scamacca and Michel Adopo were all subbed in during the second half. Coach Gasperini’s changes were proven vindicated in the end and played a key role in tipping the scales in Atalanta’s favour: while De Ketelaere opened the scoring, embellishing his debut with his first-ever goal in Italy, Adopo assisted Zortea (who was also subbed in) to double the lead.

Going back to Kolašinac, his debut held a double relevance: not only did Sead play his first match as an Atalanta player, but he also made his debut in the Serie A, rising his “top league count” to four after his previous stints in, respectively, Germany, England and France.
