The Atalanta internationals: the outcomes

Recap of our 9 internationals' performances

As the last international break is finally over, it’s now time for our usual recap to bring you up to speed on the performances of the 9 Atalantini called up by their National sides.

Starting off with the UEFA Nations League Finals: Mario Pašalić took runner-up honours with Croazia, with the goal scored in the 4-2 victory of the Vatreni in the first semi-final against the Netherlands after extra time and the 62 minutes played in the final won by Spain on penalties summing up his full contribution in the tournament. Third place for Rafael Toloi with Italy, who played the whole 90 minutes of both the semi-final against Spain and the third-place playoff against the Netherlands. As for our two Oranje Nerazzurri, while Marten de Roon was introduced in the second half of extra time in the match against Croatia and benched against Italy; Teun Koopmeiners played the whole match against Croatia and came off the bench in the 63rd minute against Italy.

As for the other four Atalantini embroiled in the Euro 2024 qualifiers: Merih Demiral played the whole 90 minutes of both Turkey’s 3-2 away victory against Latvia (giving also an assist) and the 2-0 home victory against Wales. Likewise, also Berat Djimsiti clocked in two full matches as Albania defeated, respectively,  Moldova  2-0 at home and Faroe 3-1 away. Closing off with Joakim Mæhle and Rasmus Højlund‘s Denmark, while the fullback played 73 minutes and the striker clocked in the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 home victory against Ireland; not only did Rasmus play 71 minutes in the outing against Slovenia but he also scored Denmark’s equaliser (as the match culminated in a 1-1 draw on aggregate).

Ademola Lookman didn’t play a single minute as Nigeria defeated Sierra Leone 3-2 away in the qualifying match for the next Africa Cup of Nations.
