Group A Matchday 5 of 2023/24 Serie C NOW saw Atalanta’s Under-23s impose themselves 2-0 over Pro Vercelli at the “Città di Caravaggio” Municipal stadium.
The Nerazzurri got off to a great start with Bernasconi cutting inside the box and slotting the ball in to bring Atalanta upfront.
On 29 minutes, De Nipoti loosened a curler from outside the box to the back post; but his chance flew high. Within minutes, on the 33rd, Di Serio went solo: after wreaking havoc on the left flank and making his way into the box he missed the target. Atalanta eventually doubled their lead in the 41st minute courtesy of Di Serio.
The second half saw Atalanta even more on top of the game, with Solcia going inches away from the goal on 70 minutes, as his superb long-range shot smacked the post. Despite Pro Vercelli’s retaliation in the closing minutes, seamlessly quelled by Atalanta Under-23s’ defence, the opponents’ effort did not suffice: as the final whistle filled the air in Caravaggio, coach Modesto’s lads returned to their winning ways clinching a 2-0 home victory and keeping a clean sheet no less.
