Group A Matchday 6 of 2023/24 Serie C NOW saw hosting side L.R. Vicenza impose themselves 3-0 over Atalanta’s Under-23s at the “Romeo Menti” stadium in Vicenza.
Vicenza hit first on 8 minutes with De Col’s left footed shot flying high over the bar. A few minutes later, in the 14th, Vismara dived to nullify Rossi’s ranged shot. Di Serio was in with a golden chance 27 minutes into the game: his willful pounce on a back pass found no vindication as Confente eventually deflected the point-blank shot of the black-and-blue striker. Atalanta’s claim for penalty due to a foul on De Nipoti in the heart of the box in the 30th minute was eventually not awarded. 36 minutes into the game and another chance for Atalanta, with Vicenza’s defence eventually quelling the pacey counter led by the De Nipoti-Di Serio duo. The deadlock was broken in the 4oth minute as Proia’s header following a set-piece kick found its way into the net.
Despite Atalanta’s effort to level the match, it was Ferrario who doubled Vicenza’s lead 56 minutes into the game with a header following a corner. Rolfini scored Vicenza’s third in the 78th minute beating Vismara with a shot from the centre of the box. Despite forcing Confente to a 90-minutes’ save, Roaldsøy’s ranged shot went unrewarded.
