The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women was established by the United Nations General Assembly on the designated date of November 25, on the grounds of calling upon governments, international organizations and NGOs alike to implement, on this particular date, initiatives aimed at raising the public awareness on the plight of discrimination against women.
