Women’s U15 team kick off new season

The team will be coached by De Maria again

After the Women’s Under-17 team, Atalanta Women’s Under-15 team also officially kicked off their season as they met up this afternoon at the Centro Sportivo Comunale “Valfregia” in Trezzo sull’Adda to start their preparations according to the Italian Football Federation.

Once again this year, the young women will be coached by Gennaro De Maria. The team will be made up of girls born in 2008 and pick up the baton of the previous group that made it all the way to the National Finals. “The goal is to do well, as in the past season, or rather possibly to improve,” explains the Atalanta coach. “The main objective is that the girls grow in order to finish as high as possible in the various stages of the championship. The team is made up of girls born in 2008 and one from 2009: it’s a very good group, with good potential”.

As for the U17s, the U15 championship will also have a shortened first regional phase before starting in mid-February with the inter-regional phase: “Like last year,” continues coach De Maria, ” you can’t fail a game in the regional phase if you want to finish as high as possible in the standings and qualify for the next phase. It will be a more competitive championship and this will help the girls’ growth”. Last year, the U15 team made it all the way to the finals for the title, ending the season with only one defeat in the entire championship: “It was a very exciting experience. It would be nice to relive those emotions this year. We will have an important test in San Pellegrino on 25 August where we will face Cremonese and Inter: it will be the first step to assessing the level of the team. From there, we’ll start working for the championship”.
