After a slow start, the match lights up in the 20th minute when Trimpoli’s free kick hits the bar and Gyabuaa makes a decisive goal line clearance. The Nerazzurri improve their play in the second part of the first half and they take the lead in the 37th minute: Ghislandi fires an absolute stunner into the far top corner. Atalanta double their lead three minutes after thanks to Scalvini, who finds the back of the net after Ghislandi’s assist. In the recovery time, Yepes Laut’s header put Samp one behind as it keeps the match alive.
In the second half, Atalanta have two incredible chances to find the third goal, but their efforts are not precise. Samp’s attempts are not enough and the Nerazzurri defense is impassable. The match ends 2-1: Atalanta are going to play the final on Wednesday 30 against the winner between Inter and Empoli (who play tomorrow).
