With Muriel’s sublime 95th-minute back-heel flick winner, Atalanta beat AC Milan 3-2 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo on matchday 15 of the Serie A TIM 2023-2024 season.
While Djimsiti charged down Giroud’s early attempt, the Nerazzurri almost took the lead when Lookman nodded down for De Ketelaere, who fired off target from a promising position on 9 minutes. In the 27th minute, Éderson intercepted Tomori’s volley and the deflection was saved by Musso. The deadlock was broken in the 38th minute through Lookman, who gathered from a Koopmeiners throw-in and beat Maignan with a shot that took a deflection off Tomori. Giroud equalised for AC Milan from a corner in the 3rd minute of added time amid Atalanta protests for a Musah foul on Lookman in the build-up that was not penalised by the referee.
The second half opened up with a great Scalvini finish that Maignan palmed out from under the bar. The Nerazzurri restored their lead on 55 minutes when De Ketelare broke down the left and rolled it across for Lookman, who fired into the roof of the net to complete a brace. In the 59th minute, De Ketelaere sprinted down the left but his angled drive flashed across the face of goal. The Nerazzurri nearly added a third goal in the 76th minute when Scalvini rode two tackles and his right-foot angled drive was beaten away by Maignan, Lookman’s effort from the rebound was once again saved and the Nigerian forward then failed to tap in. Jovic levelled the score for Milan on 80 minutes, but Atalanta were not ready to give in. After Milan went down to ten men in the final minutes when Calabria was shown a second yellow card, Muriel’s magic 95th-minute touch made it 3-2: Miranchuk set up the Colombian, who beat Maignan with a back-heel flick netting in the match-winning goal!
